Neville!

I think that it is time to give Neville Longbottom his 15 minutes of fame!
Neville Longbottom (b. 30 July1980) was a pure-bloodwizard who began school at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in 1991, and was sorted into Gryffindor house. His parents,Alice and Frank Longbottom, were well-respected Aurors and members of the first Order of the Phoenix. Shortly after Neville's birth, they were tortured to insanity by four Death Eaters with theCruciatus Curse and placed in the Janus Thickey Ward at St Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries, leaving Neville to be raised by his formidable grandmother.
Throughout his school years, Neville grew from a shy, introverted boy into a courageous defender of Hogwarts. He was an important member of Dumbledore's Army who fought in the Battle of the Department of Mysteries, the Battle of the Astronomy Tower, and the Battle of Hogwarts. During the Battle of Hogwarts, having refused Voldemort's invitation to join the Death Eaters, he destroyed the seventh and final Horcrux when he beheaded the snake Nagini. He also co-led the D.A. during his final year in opposition to the Death Eater professors. After the end of the Second Wizarding War, Neville briefly served as an Auror and later became Hogwarts' professor ofHerbology and married Hannah Abbott.

The Spell of the week!

Accio (Summoning Charm)

Pronunciation: Various suggestions have been made, including:
/ˈæki.oʊ/ AK-ee-oh – film and video game
/ˈæksi.oʊ/ AK-see-oh – U.K. audio book
/ˈæsi.oʊ/ AS-see-oh – U.S. audio book
Description: This charm summons an object to the caster, potentially over a significant distance. Its opposite is the Banishing Charm.
Seen/mentioned: First mentioned in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, when it was briefly used by Molly Weasley on the Weasley twins to confiscate their Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes' products from their pockets, before they left for the Quidditch World Cup. Hermione was also mentioned trying to learn this charm during her ride aboard the Hogwarts Express. Later on in the same book, Harry summons his broom to complete the First Task of the Triwizard Tournament. Near the end of the book, Harry summons a Portkey he cannot reach to escape from the Battle in the Graveyard. In "Order of the Phoenix", Bellatrix Lestrange attempts to summon the prophecy from Harry. Also seen in Half-Blood Prince and Deathly Hallows to try to summon Horcruxes, and Harry tries to summon a falling Rubeus Hagrid. One of the Death Eaters tried to snatch Harry's Invisibility Cloak using this charm, but it did not work.
Suggested etymology: The Latin word accio means "I call" or "I summon". In the Hungarian translation, the spell is called "Invito", possibly from the word "invite" or "invitation".

Character of the Week!

Character of the week goes to Bellatrix Lestrange!

Bellatrix Lestrange (née Black) (1951-2 May1998) also known as Bella, was a pure-blood witch, the daughter of Cygnus and Druella Black and elder sister to Andromeda and Narcissa. She attendedHogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in 1962 and was sorted into Slytherin house. After graduating from Hogwarts, she became aDeath Eater who was fanatically loyal to Lord Voldemort. She was one of the few females in the group, as well as among the most dangerous and sadistic of Voldemort's followers. While Bellatrix and Narcissa married pure-blood wizards, Andromeda married a muggle-born and was disowned from the family. At the end of the First Wizarding War, Bellatrix and her husband, Rodolphus Lestrange, his brother Rabastan, and Barty Crouch Jr. tortured Aurors Alice and Frank Longbottom to the point of insanity searching for information on Lord Voldemort after his first downfall.
Bellatrix was sentenced to life imprisonment in Azkaban for the crime, but escaped in the 1996 mass break-out, along with nine other Death Eaters. She participated in several battles of the Second Wizarding War, making it a particular goal to kill any relatives who were members of the Order of the Phoenix, including her cousinSirius Black and niece Nymphadora Tonks. She also killed the Malfoy family's former house-elf, Dobby, who had become a firm ally of Harry Potter. She was also the last Death Eater standing during the final battle, and was eventually killed by Molly Weasley.

General Harry Potter Facts Not Disclosed in the Books

-Prefects can take points; Ron got it wrong in Order of the Phoenix, which makes him a pretty poor prefect, eh?
-Fred and George Weasley were born on April Fools' day (no joke).
-Ginny Weasley's first name is Ginevra, and she is the first female Weasley born for "several generations," says JKR.
-Arthur Weasley has two brothers.
-Molly Weasley's maiden name is Prewett.
-Crookshanks is half Kneazle.
-The infamous Weasley cousin who was cut from the books was named Mafalda. She was in Slytherin.
-Dean Thomas's father was killed by Death Eaters when he refused to join them. Neither Dean nor his mother know.
-Dean Thomas was named Gary in the first drafts of the Philosopher's Stone.
-Hagrid, Lily, and James were in Gryffindor. (Hagrid was NOT in Hufflepuff.)
-Hogwarts has about a thousand students. (True, that number doesn't seem right, but J.K.R. said so, and she's the boss.)
-James Potter was a Chaser on the Gryffindor Quidditch team (although the movie claimed he was a Seeker).
-Hermione's birthday is September 19th; Ron's is March 1st.
-James Potter inherited lots of money and didn't need a well-paying profession.
-James Potter inherited the Invisibility Cloak from his father.
-Witches and wizards have longer life-spans than Muggles.
-The Gringotts' goblins return the Muggle money they acquire back into circulation.
-The approximate value of a Galleon is about five pounds ($7.30 or 8.00 Euro), though the exchange rate varies.
-Dumbledore is 150, McGonagall is 70 (and is really an old softy; she just doesn't act like it), Snape is 35 or 36.
-Hogwarts' school motto, "Draco Dormiens Nunquam Titillandus," means, "Never tickle a sleeping dragon."
-If placed in front of a mirror, the inscription on the Mirror of Erised ("Erised stra ehru oyt ube cafru oyt on wohsi") reads, "I show not your face but your heart's desire."
-The happiest people do not become ghosts. (Therefore, we can assume that ghosts are people that died while sad, angry, etc. Myrtle was teased; Nearly Headless Nick didn't have his head completely chopped off; the Bloody Baron was...lonely?)
-The Hogwarts teachers do not stay at Hogwarts during the Christmas holidays. However, Filch, Hagrid, and Dumbledore do.
-A few of the Hogwarts professors have spouses, but that information is restricted for reasons we will find out about later.
-To remove the tail that Hagrid gave Dudley in the hut on the rock, the Dursleys went to a private hospital where the staff was very discreet, and said that a wart had gone out of control.
-Aragog is an Acromantula (see Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them).
-Dragons can't be domesticated, no matter what Hagrid thinks.
-There is more to the cats in the story (Crookshanks, Mrs. Figg's cats, Mrs. Norris, etc.) than meets the eye.
-The animal an Animagus turns into is a reflection on his/her personality.
-For Hagrid, keeping dangerous creatures is all about overcoming something that could kill him.
-Azkaban is in a sea north of the North Sea. A very cold sea.
-You can do unfocused and uncontrolled magic without a wand (like when Harry blows up Aunt Marge), but to perform really good spells, you need a wand.
-Muggle education is not required for wizard children prior to attending Hogwarts.
-A magical quill detects the birth of every magical child and records it in a book and Professor McGonagall sends an owl to each child when he or she turns eleven.
